[May 2010] Invited by Vienna's top VJ act 4yourEye, this is Oli Sorenson first solo gallery exhbition in a few years. Taking on the mapping theme, Oli has added a new twist, a more personal touch to the genre. He does not try to perfectly match the shape of a physical object with his videos, but instead is voluntarily distorting them with random objects. The result works to mesmerizing effects, similar to optical art in painting.

The BFI invited Ne1co to host a new bi-monthly series of events entitled Dark Fibre. These new events will play up to the challenges of finding new avenues for audiovisual artforms encouraging more experimental works to come forward. For its initial launch in July, Dark Fibre hosted acts celebrating the 40th anniversary of the first man on the moon, and in Septembre, it will host the AV program for onedotzero's 2009 festival in London. Dark Fibre will soon send a call out for works to present at its Novembre program. [submit work] [top]

Oli Sorenson re-initiate his THX remix project with Dan Tait, launched at Dark Fibre and also featured at this yea's Big Chill (cinema tent). THX1138 is George Lucas' first feature film, fist released in 1970. within the 60-minute performance, Dan and Oli completely tear open the film's structure, while surprisingly keeping its narrative thread intact. The result is a refreshing view on an obscure cult classic, to be enjoyed in club ready environments. [top]

AV Singles are audiovisual tracks produced in collaboration with some of the top record labels of the dance music industry, available  exclusively from DJ Download.com. These are produced with AV performance in mind, especially for DVJing. This series kicked off with a 6 track series from Toolroom Records. More to come soon. [visit DJDownload] [top]

Subject Zero is a live DVJ performance project, procuced to mark VJ Anyone's passage to working under his new artist name - Oli Sorenson.

As well as drawing closure on the artist formerly known as Anyone, Subject 0's underlying themes draw from vanity to celebrity culture, within a playful fusion of audio and visuals.

The soundtrack from Subject 0 was exclusively selected from tracks on the Multiverse label, and results in a dark and eclectic mix between minimal techno, dubstep and ambient music. Musical artists include October, Pinch, Moving Ninja and more.

Oli Sorenson is currently touring Subject 0 in many festivals, and has released it on DVD in PAL with MixMash, and NTSC with DVJ Vision. [top]

[new] Mastering Quartz Composer is a book and DVD project authored by Shakinda & Surya Buchwald, to be published by Pearson. Started nine months ago, this project aims to introduce Quartz Composer as a very powerful and fun graphical programming environment. Despite its massive potential for real-time audio reactive solutions, Quartz Composer is still mainly publicized for the creation screensaver, and remains woefully under-used as a visualization tool. The Mastering Quartz Composer book could change this forever.

This book and DVD shows the full potential of Quatz Composer, from taking a complete novice through the software setup process and getting to grips its interface, all the way to enabling the modelization of complex 3d audio reactive environments, midi interaction, to retrieving online database information. [new] Drug Music MyEye is Oli Sorenson's latest 'Ghetto Minimal' DVJ set, as performed at February's edition of AV Social - one of the UK's top events for audiovisual performance. The live 60-minute AV show is ever-changing, like any DJ set, and consists of a mix of official singles produced for specific labels for download sites, as well as unofficial music videos Oli created on top of downloaded MP3s. All videos here by Ne1co artists. [book this performance] [top]

Cyber Noir is a constantly evolving ambient DVJ set by Oli Sorenson, a live performance combining original visuals with downloaded MP3s. Raw minimalist graphics converge with sampled film soundtracks, in this piece which turns towards darker themes in Sorenson's work, as he aligns the AV artist with 1990s cyberpunk figures like hackers and cyborgs.

Alternatively titled Retro-Futuristic Nostalgia for Recently Past Near-Future Fictions, Cyber Noir is a performance which anticipates a new  foundness for 1990s esthetics, from audiences at the dawn of the 2010s. [book this performance] [top]
